A regeneration strategy for two Rochdale estates

We are delighted to have won Rochdale Boroughwide Housing’s national competition to find a multidisciplinary urban design team to help develop two estates in the heart of Rochdale. Lower Falinge and College Bank are neighbourhoods in Central Rochdale with extensive regeneration challenges linked to physical design and the life chances of residents.

Over the next three months, we will collaborate with local residents through a series of workshops and extensive stakeholder engagement to identify the level of refurbishment or development that is acceptable to the community, before delivering a strategic masterplan.

This will then be developed into a Supplementary Planning Document, which will set out detailed objectives for the rejuvenation of the area and its wider context, through an extensive collaborative planning process. We aim to build a consensus to create a distinctive place, building on the existing community and reimagining and enhancing the character and identity of both estates.
