myPod, Competition

About:

myPod is our self build competition entry based on a very simple concept: two weather-tight, insulated, factory-produced, timber pods stacked above each other on a pre-prepared base. They are produced to a bespoke specification in under a month, delivered to site by road and craned into place and ready to move in the following day.

Both the façade and internal layout can be fully customised to suit the preferences of the user. The simple ‘four-room’ plan means you can live upstairs or down, put the kitchen at the back or the front, opt for a double-height living space instead of a second bedroom, make a study area and have as much storage as you want. You can choose where to cook, eat, sleep, work, shower and relax.

The method of construction ensures great energy performance – eliminating any risk of gaps or cold bridges. By its nature, narrow frontage terraced housing minimises heat loss through walls while retaining the benefits of dual aspect.
