High density flexible family homes

This is a sketch of a practical, flexible family house; intended for urban locations and capable of achieving high densities when used as back-to-back terraces. Free of circulation and bathrooms, the main body of the plan can be used in different ways at every floor level – live at the top, bottom, or in the middle. The location of the stair means that each floor can be more private than in a typical plan (option door from the stairwell), making it ideal for teenage children, live-in friend, family, lodger or carer, or working from home. It also makes it very easy to add extra floors or double height spaces, and there are three private outdoor spaces.
