Our studio (Detail Studio) has been thinking recently about all the ‘meanwhile’ space in London - sites that are empty for years, awaiting development. Could it be used to create opportunities for people?

Rising land values means artistic communities are forced to move from one area of London to the next when they can no longer afford the rent – the nomadic front runners of the gentrification process. Could they be housed on these ‘meanwhile’ spaces and stay in the area for longer?
