Berlin study tour: Museum for Architectural Drawing

A group of us visited the Tchoban Foundation’s Museum for Architectural Drawing in Prenzlauer Berg. Designed by SPEECH Tchoban & Kuznetsov Architects, the building has received a lot of architectural press due to its impressive pre-cast concrete façade, which reflects a series of stacked blocks each with a motif that evokes the drawings – for which this museum was built – that sit inside. The current exhibition highlights drawings by the who’s who of architecture, young and old, owned by the Albertina Museum in Vienna. As a poignant reminder of her impact on the architectural world, one of Zaha Hadid’s beautiful drawings provided the full-stop to a diverse, if somewhat small, exhibition.
