David Bernstein 1937-2018

It is with great sadness that we announce that our co-founder, David Bernstein, has passed away aged 80 following a short battle with cancer.

Kind, light-hearted and full of integrity, David remained a father figure for many of us long after his retirement and we will miss him dearly. The culture and ethos we all cherish here today is thanks so much to his wonderful, open and compassionate sensibility.

David taught extensively at the AA alongside his wife Beverly in the late 60s and met David Levitt whilst working on the Brunswick Centre under Patrick Hodgkinson. The pair founded the Practice and housing association Circle 33 in 1968, and together they dedicated themselves to creating better homes for all – a legacy we are proud to inherit.

David's funeral will take place on Friday 9 February at 1pm in the West Chapel of Golders Green Crematorium. We will then be celebrating David’s life from 2.30-6pm at Lauderdale House in Highgate. Please contact Rose Marshall if you need any additional details.
