How can SAP be a tool that helps achieve net zero?

We are part of a team that BEIS has awarded an exciting project to determine what and how SAP/RdSAP 11 will need to model energy use in homes to best support the Government policies relying on its outputs.

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the UK Government adopted methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings. SAP calculations are primarily required to demonstrate compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations for new dwellings and refurbishment of existing dwellings.

This project will provide a series of recommendations to Government, which will support the development of the next version of this important tool. The work will involve collaboration with industry networks and stakeholder engagement. Led by Etude and CIBSE, our team also includes Elementa, WSP, Clarion Housing Group and UCL.

Interested in the future of SAP and its role in reaching net zero carbon? Please let us know your opinion by completing our SAP and RdSAP survey which will feed into our recommendation report. The survey closes on Tuesday 1st December.
