RideLondon 100

Sunday brought an end to the great British summer heatwave and the beginning of our 100 mile RideLondon cycle through lashing rain and head-winds to raise money for Shelter. Our hardy group of nine started as early as 6.08am, setting off from the Olympic Park, through the closed roads in central London, heading towards Richmond Park. The hundreds of riders then worked their way south, taking in the Newlands Corner, Leith Hill and Box Hill climbs, Leith Hill being the steepest. The general consensus was that the team hit ‘the wall’ around mile 80, however, with the aid of numerous protein bars and cheers of encouragement from rain-soaked supporters lining the route, it was largely all downhill coming back into London, where we finished with a sprint on the Mall. A great effort by everyone to get round, considering the awful conditions. A big thank you to everyone who donated to our team. I would say that, due to the conditions, you got your money’s worth.

Thanks again and if you would still like to donate, our fundraising page is still open. All money will support Shelter's amazing work!
