We are delighted to announce that Clare Murray, our Head of Sustainability, has been named 'Sustainability Champion of the Year' in the AJ100 Awards, alongside her close collaborator Clara Bagenal George, Associate at Elementa Consulting. As leaders within the London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI), they have made, and continue to make, an outstanding contribution within the architectural profession and to the built environment.
As part of LETI, Clare and Clara have co-led collaboration across disciplines to address the UK’s zero carbon commitments and co-edited guidance documents, including the Climate Emergency Design Guide and Net Zero Operational Carbon one-pager. They also led the architectural critique that informed the LETI response for the Future Homes Consultation and highlighted the missed opportunities to bring higher fabric standards into Building Regulations. This messaging has been adopted and re-used across the industry by individuals and organisations.
As an architect and environmental design specialist, Clare has led the sustainability design work on a multitude of projects within our own Practice and is currently advising on six Passivhaus developments. She continues to take every opportunity to collaborate and actively campaign for changes in design, policy and regulation to create a more sustainable future for us all.
As Clare summarised in her acceptance speech, 'In order to mitigate climate change, we must act now. So, if you know what you're doing, teach someone. If you don't, then it's OK to ask.'
