As part of our 50th birthday celebrations, we are delighted to announce our partnership with Shelter. Established during the housing crisis of the 60s (much like ourselves), the charity helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, support and legal services. Shelter also campaigns so that one day nobody will need to turn to them for help.
Over the next year, we will be supporting Shelter’s incredible work by hosting a range of fundraising events (stay tuned for further info!), as well as volunteering and campaigning.
We’ll also be getting involved in Shelter’s Big Conversation – a cross-party commission to lead a national conversation about the future of social housing in England that engages tenants, communities and professionals in the housing sector. We urge you all to take the survey and respond to the call for evidence. You can do so, and find out more about the campaign, here.
At a time when homelessness figures seem to know no bounds, we feel it more important than ever to add our support and influence to help solve this catastrophic problem – so that more people have a proper place to call home.
