A couple of weeks ago I attended the ‘Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion’ exhibition at the V&A museum, which explored the career of Cristóbal Balenciaga throughout his life in Spain and France.
The exhibition demonstrated how much talent and passion this Spanish couturier had for the research and study of every piece, from materials to shapes and geometry. It was really inspiring, especially in terms of the creativity and quality evident in every single dress. It was also interesting to see how the young designer drew inspiration from his work and sketches, and how they are now creating contemporary pieces using new materials and modern technologies, such as laser cutting.
It was also a good opportunity to see the new hypogeum extension of the V&A by AL_A!
