In partnership with Willmott Dixon and the RIBA, I led a tour of Concert Hall in Bristol, followed by a talk about the story of the site, design and process, and an end of summer party. The event highlighted the many ways the scheme will improve accessibility and inclusivity.

Nick Craney and Sarah Roberston, both of Bristol Music Trust, said that the transformation will help them properly host disabled performers, without ad hoc adaptations, and offer better access for disabled customers – things the Victorian builders hadn’t considered at all.

I spoke about why the completed project will be unique in the UK: it combines a world-class main hall that’s equally excellent for all genres of music, a flexible second hall for smaller professional music and community events, alongside spaces for learning, creativity and emerging artists.

It was great to take a break from the day job of delivering the scheme to reflect on what’s being achieved by Bristol City Council, Bristol Music Trust and an incredible range of funders who’ve invested generously in the transformation of the Hall.
