Last week at Friday night drinks, we in Detail Studio presented our take on ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ – an overview of how designs get from the drawing board to being built.
Looking at a series of recent housing projects, we discussed what has worked well, and why – and how things that weren’t delivered as well could be improved on in the future.
By scrutinising built examples of drawn information, we were able to recognise where communication had been rigorous enough to ensure the details were executed as expected, or in cases where buildings looked prematurely aged or damage had occurred to the fabric, where there was room for improvement in the drawings or the relationship between architect and builder.
