We are delighted that this study – carried out by Dinah Bornat of UEL and ZCD Architects and which we’ve supported from the outset – has now been published. The research examines how people use external spaces in residential developments and features our Ocean Estate as one of ten case studies. Concluding that children are the generators of community life, the finding suggest that designing spaces with play in mind can have huge benefits for all residents. It’s a fascinating read and a stark reminder to all those in the housing industry of how important incorporating children’s needs is to the success of new developments.
