LB Türkiye & Syria Fundraiser

The first deadly earthquake struck while people were inside their homes, asleep in their beds, with no warning signs. More than 54,00 buildings, including hospitals and schools, have been destroyed or damaged. People have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions. Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) charities and their local partners are among the first responders providing urgent aid including medical care, shelter, food, water, blankets and heating.

Over the past few weeks, we have been busy raising money to support their good work.

Kickstarted by charity lunches in London and Manchester, volunteers came forth to make a delicious spread of Turkish Bulgur Pilav, Beyaz Peynir, hummus, olives, salads, Turkish bread, mint, and parsley. Keen bakers sold daily treats including Orange and Almond Cake, Earl Grey Tea Cake, Banana Bread, Chocolate Brownies and many more. While donators contributed to ‘bring and buy’ sales of books, plant pots, clothes and gadgets. This round of fundraising was tied up in the form of a Charity Quiz featuring rounds on art, geography, Davids, Dingbats and more. We extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated their time and generosity to this important cause.

All donations were doubled by the Practice mounting up to a grand total of £2,564!

Many are still suffering from the devastation caused by the earthquake, and these communities will need continued support to help rebuild their lives.

We encourage anyone reading this to consider donating to DEC, or any other charity supporting the cause.
