Irene and I recently attended the formal opening of The Courtyards, Dovedale Avenue, our extra care scheme in Preston for Community Gateway Association. Residents, members of CGA’s residents’ advisory board and the great and the good of Preston were in attendance to see the Mayor of Preston unveil a plaque to mark the day. The first residents starting moving in back in March, so it has been some time coming due to Covid restrictions, and a long time coming for the Practice as the project started around seven years ago!
There were some really nice speeches and it was great to be able to take a moment in the new Bistro with those who strove for the quality in the project and see how much it means to the residents.
Fiona Fisher, Head of Housing Services at Community Gateway Association, said: “The Courtyards is such a vibrant and welcoming building, which when you look round almost invites you to pick your own apartment. Each is dual aspect and has its own outdoor space, so is light and airy. Since opening earlier this year, we have let 50 apartments and it makes me smile to see how residents have quickly put their individual stamp on each one. It’s said that moving home is one of the most stressful times in life, but our residents have risen beautifully to the challenge and breathed life and laughter into our wonderful building.”
