This week we welcomed students from schools in Hackney and Lambeth to our London studio as part of Regeneration Brainery’s first London outing. The week-long programme immerses young people in all aspects of the construction industry, including our crash course in architecture, urban design and landscape architecture.
After a few warmup exercises in masterplanning and drawing, the ‘Brainees’ got stuck into their design brief which involved developing a new home for a client of their choice. It’s certainly not every day you get to design for Will Smith, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj, Dave and even Her Majesty the Queen. The room was full of energy and we thoroughly enjoyed enthusiastic presentations that included a red carpet through a garden landscape, an arcade room full of vending machines and a meditation chamber with panoramic views.
Some students even took inspiration from the heatwave we were experiencing to think about how inventive ventilation and materials strategies could support their designs.
It was a great day working with aspiring architects, designers and regeneration professionals of the future. Thank you to Regeneration Brainery for getting us involved, and everyone from the Levitt Bernstein team for taking part.
