Last Saturday we took part in ‘Opening-Up Architecture’ - a free event for 15 to 19 year olds, organised by the RIBA at 66 Portland Place.
It was great to be invited to present some of our recent PassivHaus and Retrofit project work, and to share some of the principles outlined in our Passivhaus Easi Guide, which the Levitt Bernstein sustainability team developed in collaboration with sustainability consultants Etude. The young people who attended our talk were really engaged and asked some brilliant questions - ranging from technical queries on insultation types, to thoughts on the wider potential for retrofit.
The event itself was very inspiring, with excellent talks and lots of activities, ranging from climate-friendly poster making, to building a modular tree and protest leaves, led by U-Build. Above all, it was fantastic to see so many young people engaged and interested in sustainability and the built environment - offering lots of hope for the next generation of architects and sustainability experts! A big thank you to the RIBA Youth Forum and RIBA Learning for organising Opening Up Architecture.
