It’s wonderful to see that our Sutherland Road project has been locally listed by the residents of Waltham Forest!
Following a public call for nominations, a Local Heritage List was launched by Waltham Forest Council. This list is a comprehensive record of the many unique buildings, structures, and public artworks that contribute to the borough’s distinct character and are cherished by its residents and communities.
Completed in 2017, Sutherland Road provides 59 new affordable homes, a shared communal garden, and a health centre.
As described by the community:
"A contemporary example of high-quality architectural design by architects Levitt Bernstein, the development features several distinct buildings with two contrasting architectural styles. The first style, applied to the street-facing buildings, uses a light buff-coloured brick with olive-coloured windows and metalwork, while asymmetrical rooflines and window openings add visual interest to the streetscape. A saw-tooth roofscape hints at the area’s former industrial use. The second style is used for buildings within the development, featuring striking red corrugated metal facades and steeply pitched roofs."
