The UK Green Building Council released their much awaited Health and Wellbeing in Homes report on Wednesday at an event held in Berkeley Group’s Woodberry Down development.
This report was the result of a collaboration of more than 30 industry professionals, who sought to discover and bring together research on mental, social and physical health and wellbeing. Whilst the research into the physical side of health and wellbeing in homes is well documented, there have been fewer links to the social and mental impacts of building design on occupants. The new publication seeks to bring all three aspects together to spark ideas on how to create healthy homes and neighbourhoods. The value case underpins the findings of the report, with fascinating results from a nationwide survey, demonstrating the emotional and financial value of designing and building healthy homes.
As contributors to the report we hope that those reading it will find it as enlightening as we did. This is very much the starting point for finding ways to make our homes and communities happier and healthier places to be. You can read it in full here.
