Four of us participated in the Women in Architecture speed mentoring event last Friday, with me and Molly as mentees, and Krishma and Nicola as mentors. Through this, we had an amazing opportunity to talk with other women involved in architecture and share our questions and experiences.
The morning started with breakfast and networking, where I met women working in various practices. I realised how lucky I am to work in Levitt Bernstein, where the proportion of women is 50%, whereas in other practices it can be as low as 10%. Then we had two 15 minute sessions with different mentors, where I had the chance to ask other women questions and share thoughts about my career in a profession which is largely still dominated by men.
The event had a great atmosphere and provided an opportunity to see how other people (there were also men present) see things in a different way.
