Clare Murray

Studio Director

Clare is an architect and leads our Sustainability Studio. She specialises in sustainable building design and also oversees the environmental performance of the practice itself. Clare contributes to projects from concept through to implementation and post-occupancy stages, leads on research and campaigns for improvements to policy to support low energy design.

Clare regularly advises local authorities, developers and the GLA on ultra-low energy, Passivhaus, retrofit, whole life carbon, and environmental design, shaping the client and design teams’ response to the climate emergency. She has a wealth of experience in producing visually engaging and user-friendly net zero guidance, policy, standards, and regulation and regularly contributes to industry discussions through LETI.

Clare has been a member of the UK Green Building Council UKGBC since 2014, the London Energy Transformation Initiative LETI since 207 and has sat on Design Review Panels for Merton since 2018 and Islington since 2017. She co-authored the ‘Housing Standards Handbook’, National Housing Federation, 2016 and contributed to publications such as LETI Climate Emergency Design Guide, 2020.
