Blackheath Prep, Greenwich

About:

Blackheath Prep is housed in a Grade II listed Georgian building and stands as a local landmark. We have upgraded the entrance reception, meeting room, and senior management offices whilst remaining sympathetic to this unique heritage setting. Through partial demolition and a peeling back of since defunct accretive works, we have brought harmony and clarity to the space. We have also elevated the main entrance of the school, transforming it from acting simply as a functional administrative area to becoming an inviting space that celebrates its historic features.

Bespoke furniture and a free-standing glazed screen allows the reception area to be opened up to provide a bright and airy space with a clear demarcation of old building fabric and new intervention. A single floor treatment runs throughout the upgraded areas, giving a unity to the various spaces that is befitting to the domestic scale of the rooms. Through complementary colour schemes, the new interiors of the spaces create calm and ordered workspaces with individual characters, supporting the school in its endeavour to deliver top-quality education in a welcoming environment.
