Springvale, Dublin

About:

This project is a series of new apartment buildings on the site of the former ‘Springvale’ historic house, located on the edge of Chapelizod Village next to Phoenix Park, Dublin’s largest public green space. The new buildings range from three to five storeys in height and provide 71 apartments, a series of heavily planted amenity spaces, parking and a new play space for the wider village. The scheme also includes a new community hall, principally intended for use by the local Scout Group. All homes are for social rent, managed directly by Dublin City Council.

It was co-designed with ABK Architects and it is part of the Council's programme to build over 800 new social rent homes using off-site construction to increase build quality and reduce site time and therefore the impact on local residents. We have utilised a limited number of factory built wall panels on a lightweight steel structure. External finishes, detailing and roof profiles are designed to vary between buildings to add character, with window sizes and materials carefully chosen to respond to the character of the local village.
