Our redevelopment of a locally listed building and large, disused backland car park provides 64 new affordable homes for key workers.
The retention of Greengate House’s facade preserves a local landmark, behind which sits a new wing of accommodation within the building's original footprint. A low-rise mews development to the rear is designed to reflect the more suburban context to the south. The buildings are grouped around a central landscaped courtyard to facilitate privacy and natural light. These space are overlooking in relation to one another as well as the neighbouring sites, which provides an attractive resource to the residents.
Green roof technology and high levels of thermal mass are central to the site’s environmental strategy, and the project achieved EcoHomes ‘Very Good’ standard.
An adaptive reuse and new build project which provides affordable worker housing by reconciling the variety in scale and grain of the existing urban fabric.
