The development includes the refurbishment of the existing end-of-terrace property, converting it from four one-bedroom flats to a three-bedroom family-sized maisonette and two one-bedroom flats, as well as building a new three-storey, three-bedroom house onto the side of the existing building. The refurbishment of the existing property is designed to an ultra-low energy design standard, and the new residential building is of high architectural quality and also designed to meet an ultra low energy design standard.
The entire scheme is proposed by the Council to be a possible prototype for the London Borough of Islington, exploring options for highly sustainable refurbishments and new builds. The overall aim of the project is therefore to explore how ultra-low energy retrofits and new build projects can be rolled out across the borough in the future.
Refurbishing an existing terrace and adding new build homes, all designed to an ambitious sustainability standard.
