North Prospect, a neighbourhood in Plymouth of some 1,500 homes, was built as social housing in the 1920s as ‘homes fit for heroes’. However, much of the housing stock is now in disrepair due to inherent technical problems. To address this, we worked with financial consultants to develop a sustainable regeneration strategy that recognised the needs of the current community and created a vision for the future of the area. Funding was secured for the phased renewal of a major part of the neighbourhood with a significant proportion of privately owned housing. This serves to rebalance the housing mix and tenure whilst providing new homes and community facilities for residents, as well as a new identity for the neighbourhood.
A masterplan which attracts new home owners while providing improved homes for existing residents.
