This project sets a cohesive landscape and strategic building 'vision' for their senior school site at St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS). External space is a premium in such a constrained urban setting, so the proposal has to maximise the benefits and opportunities of the external spaces.
The design resolutions follow the STAHS Vision and Values by enhancing the general amenity provision for the pupils. It creates a stronger school identity and improves the sense of arrival and kerb appeal.
We engaged with staff and pupils to create a vision that addresses the senior school operational shortfalls and overall look, feel, and cohesion in the short medium and longer term. We are now progressing the first phase of development to create a new student entrance building and associated landscaped forecourt and extended amenity along Townsend Avenue.
