Phoenix Community Housing, the client for Melfield Gardens in Lewisham, shared our ambition to put the project on a path to zero carbon. This multi-generation scheme comprises 30 affordable homes for residents aged 55 and above, and two, four-bedroom homes for eight postgraduate students from the University of London.
The project has been designed to meet Passivhaus standards, with the highest levels of fabric energy efficiency, triple glazing and reduced thermal bridging. Window sizes respond to each orientation, external shutters reduce solar gain and photovoltaic panels on the roofs are some of the measures that have been integrated into the design. All homes are expected to have direct electric heating and hot water.
We have produced this one-pager with Etude to be transparent and celebrate the targets we are aiming to achieve on this project at planning stage.
