Our competition entry Growing Space delivers family homes inspired by engagement with nature, growing home produce and active lifestyles. Located at an important gateway between Salford and Manchester city centres, this link is strengthened by placing a series of focal spaces along the new boulevard.

All family homes have individual gardens and the apartments have generous balconies. Residents also benefit from shared courtyard gardens and an orchard.

To achieve a zero carbon target, our project transforms organic waste from kitchens, the café, and gardens into gas in a central energy centre to drive a district-wide combined heat and power plant. In addition, Growing Space uses Passivhaus principles and roof-mounted PV panels.
