We are pleased to share that Aberfeldy New Masterplan has won a New London Architecture Award for 'Public Spaces'. This accolade recognises ‘new or rediscovered public spaces; parts of London that have been given new life through improvements to streets, squares, playgrounds, water spaces or parks’. The Aberfeldy team celebrated at the awards ceremony yesterday, held at The Guildhall in the City of London.
The redevelopment of this area in Poplar, building on the successful delivery of the first phases of the original Levitt Bernstein masterplan, will create a pioneering, child-friendly neighbourhood with new public realm supporting better connectivity and active lifestyles.
Intensive community involvement, including 100 pupils from two local schools, has focused on young people to ensure the new masterplan and public realm can reflect their wants and needs. This includes creation of new green, biodiverse, multi-generational spaces, as well as transformed, currently under-used existing open spaces, alongside a new pedestrian community lane through the site, a regenerated high street, new neighbourhood square, new park and play street adjacent to Culloden Primary school.
Congratulations to the entire team, especially:
