Bolanachi Building, Southwark

About:

The Bolanachi Building is part of the Bermondsey Spa regeneration masterplan and is one of the early medium-rise, high-density schemes designed under the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) and GLA initiatives.

One-hundred thirty-eight homes are provided either around an external entrance atrium or a landscaped podium courtyard situated over car-parking. Commercial space provides an active street frontage to Spa Road. The scheme is clad in green-grey aluminium. When cut away for balconies or the atrium, a timber-clad heart is revealed.

One half of the homes are for private-sale and the other is designated as shared ownership/affordable housing. Family units are linked to ground or podium-level gardens with flats orientated to take best advantage of views and sunlight.
